Last year I had just moved in right before the holidays, so I wasn’t super festive. This year I decided to try my hand at lights on the outside of the house, with a little extra decorating inside too!
First I made a trip to Home Depot for a tree and some lights. I saw some houses in the neighborhood had blinking snowflake lights, so I hunted them down. They were only $20 a box, and I only needed two, so I was super stoked.
I also decided I wanted to try some of the LED lights for my railing. I found these for about $10.
Next I needed to figure out how to hang these babies, and saw these little clips you staple to your house and just hook the lights on. I thought this was a much smarter way than actually stapling the lights themselves, as I am positive I would staple into the cord. PLUS, I can leave them up and hang lights easily next year! They were super easy to hang and let me adjust the light strings however I needed.
Lastly, I had to find a tree! I like a Douglass Fir as they are soft and smell good. Taylor helped me find this one and it was love at first sight!
I took all my new toys home and got to work. Here is the tree with lights and balls. Later Taylor and I will add the other ornaments.
Then I got to work hanging the lights! I think it looks pretty good!
I had to take a second pic at night! Makes Courtland look like a bungalow! Maybe next year I will try the second story too!
