I have always loved mid century furniture, but I think I am getting out of control. One of the reasons I love the furniture so much is because it has clean lines, and feels minimalistic to me. I am trying to simplify my world and declutter the home, so mid century just feels right. Regardless, I found another piece.
Things have been busy wrapping up the end of school, travel to Chicago for work, and trying to keep up with the house and animals. But things are never too busy for a quick stop at an antique store to calm the soul and search for treasure. The other day I did just that, and stopped into a shop in Manhattan, Kansas on my way out of town. Since I am trying to minimize our possessions, I am normally looking for just a few things when I shop: mostly furniture, great wall art, chicken keeping items, and a rug. I am trying to stay away from knick-knacks since I am trying to simplify life, and too much adds to the visual chaos. This little stop I found a dresser.
This dresser is in great shape, and was really inexpensive. I have been following mid century dressers on craigslist, and can never find them for less than $250. This one came in at $149, and is bigger than my dresser, so I snagged it up.
It is another Kroehler, which has become one of my new favorite brands!
One of the fun details is the divided drawer that is perfect in size for all my cardigans! Squeeeee! I love my cardigans!
For visual interest there are inlaid metal circles that really enhance the design. This piece really fits with the bedroom furniture, as it is all dark wood. My old beloved dresser was moved to my office for now. I love this kind of furniture, so if you see any cool pieces for an inexpensive cost, keep me in mind!
