For the last 3 years I have been trying to find a way to make the front porch seem inviting and comfortable. Chet likes to sit out there in the morning with his coffee, and I like to join him on lazy days. Two years ago after searching for just the right furniture, I finally bought some wicker chairs from Target on clearance. They are decent chairs and look nice. This year I added a rocking chair from Ace Hardware because I love to rock. I wanted a footstool to go with them, and after scouring the internet shops I found this one on Craigslist for $20 (Oops, I started painting before I remembered to take a pic!).
Problem was, the other furniture is dark brown wicker, and this thing didn’t match. I played with several ideas of how to get it to match, from staining to painting, but didn’t get around to doing anything last year. This year I decided to try painting.
Rust-oleum has this weird camo paint line that you can use to paint your boat, or blind, or whatever…anyway, looking for colors that matched the current furniture, I decided to try the “Earth Brown” color, which seemed to match pretty well.
The stool came out pretty close to the existing furniture, I think. It matches close enough, and has made the porch look a little more uniform. Now someone just needs to paint the porch and screen it in and it will be a perfect oasis! Maybe next year…So come on over, we have an extra seat and would love to sit and chat! No loitering though…
